Farewell to Boston, Hello to Salt Lake City
Four upcoming events
In less than a month, our family will begin our very own pioneer trek west. We’re planning stops at all the major LDS church history sites, but are also hoping to stumble upon some of the lesser-known treasures of this vast, sublime nation of ours. If you have suggestions for a cross-country road trip, please share!
FOUR UPCOMING EVENTS
SUNDAY JUNE 14: FAREWELL SERMONS
Mariya and I will be giving farewell addresses at our church on Sunday on June 14th 12:30PM. Everyone is welcome. Cheering and applauding encouraged. Address is 65 Binney St. Cambridge.
WEDNESDAY JUNE 17: MOVING HELP AND GOODBYE PARTY
If you’d like to help us move boxes, we’ll be loading the pods from 4-6pm. Info here. Afterwards, we’ll be gathering for a goodbye party at Somerville’s glorious Lincoln Park.
FRIDAY JUNE 12: MAKING HOME IN MODERNITY
My best friend Ian Corbin has published a new book about how to find a deeper sense of belonging even in our inhospitable culture. Join us for a wide-ranging conversation about all the big, thorny problems of the world and what those of us who hunger to live in a beloved community can do to bring that vision to life.
SATURDAY JULY 11: WAYFARE FESTIVAL
Once we arrive in Utah, the first event I’ll be hosting is our third annual summer festival on Saturday, July 11th in beautiful Heber Valley.
Featuring music, presentations, conversation, food, contemplation, and natural beauty, the Wayfare Festival provides space for imagination, intentionality, and transformation.
This year, some of the themes we’ll explore include:
Attentional resilience in the age of AI
Mormon utopias and Latter-day renaissances
Authentic identity amid conformity and coercion
PS I’ll be at MSH and Comment Magazine’s Understory event this weekend. If you’ll be there, let me know!
